A renowned figure from Hong Kong’s golden era of cinema and the lead in numerous cult-classic American films, Jet Li’s films remain as entertaining today as they were over three decades ago. A selection of five of the finest Jet Li films is packaged in a new 4K Blu-ray box set. Preorders for The Jet Li Collection commenced in April, and presently Amazon and Walmart are providing an attractive discount reducing the cost to $107 (previously $130).

These films essentially serve as a highlight reel of Li’s career during the ’90s, with three of them being shot in 1993 alone. Earlier works like Once Upon a Time in China and Swordsman 2 contributed to his rise as a star due to his skill and well-choreographed action scenes, while the Fong Sai Yuk entries—known as The Legend and The Legend 2 in the US—alongside Tai Chi Master showcased more of his elegant prowess in combat. Advancing to 1994, Li’s roles in The Bodyguard from Beijing and Fist of Legend were two more instant classics that received international acclaim.
Fist of Legend is arguably one of his most significant films, as this was a reinterpretation of the 1972 action spectacle Fist of Fury. Since Fist of Fury was led by Bruce Lee, Li had substantial expectations to meet, but Fist of Legend exceeded them with its iconic fight scenes choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping.
It is important to highlight that if you are an admirer of Hong Kong cinema, numerous exciting releases lie ahead. Shout Factory recently revealed it had obtained the global rights to the Golden Princess film collection, which includes 156 films that have mostly been missing from the 4K Blu-ray scene. This indicates that you can anticipate numerous intense action movies to be released in 4K soon, including legendary titles such as Hard Boiled, The Killer, the Better Tomorrow trilogy, and City on Fire, among many others.
