The Final of Us season 2 showrunners tease a “resplendent” episode equivalent to season 1’s Emmy-nominated Bill and Frank legend: “Factual you wait”
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann inform The Last of Us enthusiasts to anticipate a remarkable episode in season 2 similar to the moving and poignant story of Bill and Frank.
“One aspect that Neil and I discussed was ensuring that we didn’t simply say, ‘Oh, like the Bill and Frank episode. Viewers really loved that. Let’s create a very special episode of The Last of Us season 2,'” Mazin stated during a press event attended by GamesRadar+. “It needs to unfold naturally. However, I can reveal that there is a stunning episode in the season, directed by Neil, that is distinct – it’s not Bill and Frank, but it stands alone in its own right because it needed to be that way, so just wait and see. Just you wait.”
It was reported earlier this month that Mazin and Druckmann are giving the “Bill and Frank treatment” to Eugene Linden, a lesser character from The Last of Us Part II whom we mainly hear about in passing. This character will be portrayed by The Sopranos and Memento actor Joe Pantoliano. While it’s unclear if Eugene will appear in the episode mentioned by Mazin during the press conference, we can expect him to cross paths with Ellie, Joel, and the new character Dina (Isabela Merced) – the latter of whom he shares a close bond with throughout the game.
“Long, Long Time,” the season 1 episode that narrated the touching tale of Bill and Frank, two minor game characters who cherished each other until the very end, was celebrated by fans and critics alike.
