Amazon is organizing an Early Prime Day Book Sale in advance of its yearly sales event for Prime members (July 8-11). The extensive array of preliminary offers encompasses hardcopy books, Kindle ebooks, and audiobooks. Science fiction enthusiasts only have a limited selection of physical books available in this pre-Prime Day campaign, but there are two exceptionally good Prime-exclusive offers on titles by the authors of The Expanse.

While primarily recognized as a critically lauded Prime Video series, The Expanse began as a celebrated series of novels by James S.A. Corey—the pseudonym of writing collaborators Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck—back in 2011. Amazon is offering The Expanse 3-Book Box Set for just $20, providing fans of the space saga and newcomers a chance to include the first three books to their collections at an affordable price. After completing the nine-book series in 2021, Corey initiated a trilogy titled The Captive’s War. The inaugural book in this series, The Mercy of Gods, is available for merely $15 (previously $30), marking its lowest price ever in hardcover.

James S.A. Corey excelled in crafting The Expanse’s credible universe from the outset with

Leviathan Wakes. This pattern persisted with The Mercy of Gods, which was a significant critical and commercial triumph when it debuted last August. Amazon highlighted it on its Best Books of the Year 2024 roster, and it has accumulated over 9,000 customer critiques with an average rating of 4.5/5 stars.

The Mercy of Gods introduces The Captive’s War Trilogy as a darker, more malevolent space opera compared to The Expanse. It unfolds in a galaxy where aliens called the Carryx have obliterated civilizations and subjugated species. Yet, when the Carryx confront a seemingly insurmountable adversary, they seek the assistance of humans for their mission. Upon invading the planet Anjiin, the Carryx seize scientists to bring back to their domain to compete in a conflict against other captives, where failure means annihilation.

The 432-page narrative revolves around Dafyd Alkhor, an assistant to a scientist who is coerced into battling in the war. As one might anticipate, not all is as it appears.

The second installment of The Captive’s War Trilogy is set to launch on April 14, 2026. You can reserve The Faith of Beasts in hardcover for $32 on Amazon. Meanwhile, you can explore Livesuit, a 90-page novella set in The Captive’s War universe that was released last October as a $5 ebook and audiobook.

If you haven’t explored the series that established the duo’s fame, now is an excellent moment to rectify that.

The paperback box set that compiles the first three novels in the series is discounted by 63% for Prime members. Regularly priced at $55, this slipcased collection is available for just $20.36.

You’re acquiring a substantial amount of reading material for 20 bucks. All nine titles in the series surpass 500 pages, with the first three totaling 1,792 pages:

The initial two on the roster are companion tales issued throughout the show’s airing, while the Dragon Tooth series unfolds post the events of the series finale. Dragon Tooth was initially launched as a 12-issue comic series and has now been compiled into three paperback volumes.

The Expanse: The Complete Series is obtainable on Blu-ray and DVD. Currently, Amazon is out of stock for the Blu-ray set, but you can purchase it for $80 at Walmart. The 15-disc collection encompasses all 62 episodes that aired throughout the critically acclaimed show’s six-season duration. The series premiered in 2015 on Syfy and continued for three seasons until its cancellation. Fortunately, Amazon took over the series and crafted three additional seasons, allowing The Expanse to reach a fitting conclusion.
