Hulu’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has located its new slayer.
“I want to introduce you to [Ryan Kiera Armstrong],” Sarah Michelle Gellar shared on Instagram alongside a clip where she informs Armstrong that she secured the role. “From the instant I viewed Ryan’s audition, I realized there was only one girl I desired by my side. To possess such emotional insight and ability at such a tender age is genuinely remarkable. The additional joy is that her smile brightens even the gloomiest space. At just 15 years old (Gellar was 19 when she portrayed 16-year-old Buffy Summers in the first season), Armstrong appeared in American Horror Story: Red Tie prior to joining the lineup of Disney‘s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew as part of a quirky group of kids lost in space. She is also set to feature alongside Ethan Hawke in the upcoming FX series, The Lowdown.
Chloe Zhao (Eternals) will direct the TV series, with Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face season 1) leading the writing team.
