Call of Duty enthusiasts are responding favorably to Black Ops 7‘s latest feature – which eliminates skill-based matchmaking – and are expressing gratitude to EA for compelling Activision to adapt.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta performed well during the weekend, giving players their initial opportunity to engage with this year’s Call of Duty multiplayer. However, rather than maintaining a static experience, Treyarch enhanced the beta throughout the weekend, introducing new modes and reviving some weapons based on player feedback. A notable adjustment was the addition of two new playlists, Moshpit – the traditional playlist that rotates various game modes – and Open Moshpit.
“In Open Moshpit, skill considerations are significantly minimized during matchmaking,” Treyarch clarifies on the Call of Duty website, indicating that this has been enacted “with the aim of delivering more diverse match experiences and results. This playlist will connect players with and against individuals of a wider range of skill levels compared to the existing Multiplayer matchmaking system.” Essentially, this is a playlist that has done away with the frequently criticized skill-based matchmaking.
Money is the sole factor behind Black Ops 7’s alterations. Call of Duty is concerned about their revenue for the first time in ten years, and players are finally being acknowledged. https://t.co/NWuvp1VcRhOctober 5, 2025
Naturally, CoD professionals are thrilled, with SpawnUp sharing a clip of Scump streaming alongside Nadeshot and Octane as they celebrate. All three appear excited about the news, with one player articulating their joy with a very NSFW remark that you’ll need to hear for yourself. However, Nadeshot’s comment stands out, as he states, “We need Battlefield 6 to be released every year.”
While a humorous remark in its own right, Battlefield streamer MoiDawg points out that “Call of Duty is worrying about their revenue for the first time in ten years” in light of Battlefield 6’s exceptionally favorable beta reception, adding that “the players are finally being acknowledged.” MoiDawg also states that “Money is the only driving force behind Black Ops 7’s changes.” I’m inclined to concur – it doesn’t matter whether it involves fighting games, shooters, wrestling, or supermarkets, competition consistently enhances quality.
