By The doors of AFC Richmond’s locker room may soon swing open again as Ted Lasso star Juno Temple shares an encouraging update on a potential fourth season.
“I’ve heard some sort of unofficial buzz about, yeah, possibly; it seems like there could be a season 4,” Temple stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I can’t say when, or precisely who, what, why, or where, but it seems like those gears are starting to move.”
Premiering in 2020, the soccer comedy series quickly became a favorite among viewers, but it wrapped up its third season with the episode titled, ‘So Long, Farewell.’ Shortly thereafter, co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis confirmed that the narrative had concluded. Nevertheless, fans still clamor for more.
While there has yet to be any official announcement regarding season 4, it seems the cast has dropped a few clues about who might be coming back and when filming may commence. However, many fans believe a spinoff could be a possibility, especially after director Declan Lowney hinted back in 2023 that while the main show had a three-season storyline, “There will be more to come.”
Temple plays Keeley Jones, a model-turned-PR consultant who, by the end of season 3, is successfully running her own PR agency and attempting to establish a women’s soccer team in Richmond. Despite the exciting developments for her character, Temple remains ambivalent about the idea of a spinoff. “The notion of a spinoff involving Ted Lasso is challenging for me, as it feels very much like a team that I’m unsure I’d want to branch out from,” Temple shares.
“I don’t want to be involved if everyone else isn’t. It’s a collective effort. It’s a genuine team!” However, when ET suggests a series centered around a women’s soccer team, Temple replies: “I think, too, that women’s football is incredibly thrilling — especially in England, we’ve been performing so well — but I believe it would make for a fantastic storyline.”
