Velvety, laid-back weekend energy?
- by PJ O’Reilly
Greetings, pals, and welcome, shorts crew, to another weekend. It’s been eerily calm this week, with no standout titles to bring up… oh, hold on. Actually, we’ve been swamped with absolute gems. My sincere apologies.
Indeed, Hollow Knight: Silksong has at last appeared. It’s an actual, playable game that’s live right now! In fact, it’s so legit that it knocked several digital storefronts offline upon launch, leaving both the eShop and Steam gasping for quite a while.
We’ve also seen the arrival of Star Wars Outlaws, a title that had us anxious earlier in the week due to whispers of shaky performance on the Switch 2, but it’s landed in fine shape. Utinni indeed, tiny fur-covered freedom fighter. Naturally, the debate around game-key cards has surged again in Outlaws’ wake; people are still pushing back, though new explanations are emerging that only cloud the issue more.
Beyond those two headliners — which we expect most of you will be diving into this weekend — NBA 2K26 also just dropped. Our full take is incoming — early chatter suggests either silky 60fps or sub-30 stutters, depending on your source — so hang tight for our final verdict.
Meanwhile, Atari’s Adventure of Samsara and Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots round out this week’s lineup, giving you plenty of choices — whether you fancy strolling across pristine greens to whack tiny spheres or getting up close and personal with stormtroopers just for kicks.
So, without dragging this out any longer, let’s peek at what the Nintendo Life crew is jumping into over the next couple of days. Namaste.

I’ve been having an absolute blast with Star Wars Outlaws this week, and I’m buzzing to sink more time into Silksong, which I’ve already cracked open for a few hours. That said, my main focus this weekend is NBA 2K26 — I’ve been rolling through early access on PS5, so I’m eager to see how the Switch 2 version holds up. Review incoming!
Other than that, it’s me and my two surprisingly lore-savvy sons (who somehow know every Hollow Knight detail despite never touching the game) planted in front of the telly for Team Cherry’s latest. Not a bad way to spend a couple of days.

This weekend, I’ll mostly be sticking with last week’s rotation: Hollow Knight, UFO 50, and a dash of LEGO Jurassic World. I just wrapped Star Trek: Resurgence (review on the way), so it’s back to Hallownest for the lion’s share of my time.
Given the warm reception for Outlaws on Switch, I might also try to squeeze that in. We’ll see how the schedule pans out.

Now that it’s out in the wild, I can admit I’ll be pouring a ton of time into Cronos: The New Dawn this weekend to get a review locked and loaded. I won’t spoil anything yet, but so far, it’s ticking all the right boxes — seriously cool stuff.
And yes, Silksong is on the menu too! I got swept up in launch-day hype and I’m glad I did — it’s shaping up beautifully. I keep getting turned around, and there’s one mini-boss absolutely handing me my hat, but I’ll push through.

After dodging it for nearly ten years, I’ve finally booted up the first Hollow Knight. I figured resistance was pointless in 2025; if I want to join the Silksong chatter, I’d better experience the original first, yeah?
So far, I’m hooked — honestly can’t believe I slept on this for so long. The soundtrack! The art! The writing! The challenge! It feels like SotN and Dark Souls had a child, left it on my porch, and I heartlessly let it shiver out there for years before finally inviting it inside. Sorry, Team Cherry!

Hornet has basically chained me to Hollow Knight: Silksong for life. Could be worse, mind you… She’s graciously letting me step away to celebrate my partner’s birthday with family this weekend, so that’s a win.
Keep an eye out for my review soon!
