As much as we anticipate the release of GTA 6, thanks to its latest trailer, the game’s new delay pushed its launch date to May 26, 2026, which means we still have a year to go. However, renowned leaker Tez2 suggests that other GTA offerings may be on the horizon, in particular, a port of GTA 4 coming soon.
In a discussion on GTA Forums, Tez mentioned, “An individual at Rockstar suggested the IV port, which by now should’ve spent a year in development. We might see it dropping later this year.” Judging from his use of “port” instead of “remaster”, it’s probably safe to assume that any upcoming project will be a conversion, similar to the 2023 versions of Red Dead Redemption on Nintendo Switch and PS4 (and ultimately, PC in 2024).
Given the current unwieldiness of GTA 4 on PC and its limited availability on contemporary consoles excluding Xbox’s backward compatibility, acquiring a new way to experience this less-appreciated but story-wise solid GTA game would be welcoming. Also, a potential 60fps patch for GTA 4 would be advantageous.
Tez added that “Rockstar’s plan since the pandemic could entail a port of Max Payne 3,” speculating that it might coincide with Remedy’s future remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.
