The excitement for GTA 6 is already soaring – its second trailer has seemingly set viewership records, and enthusiasts have been scrutinizing all 5,000 of its frames in the days that followed. However, as if the excitement wasn’t already at a peak, Rockstar Games’s parent company has made some grand declarations regarding the developers’ aspirations.

“The essential aspect is that Rockstar Games aims to produce the finest experience anyone has ever witnessed in entertainment, not solely in interactive entertainment,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in an interview with CNBC while discussing the delay of GTA 6. “That’s a significant expectation, and I believe consumers have enormous aspirations for the game.”

Zelnick’s remarks might be amusing in a different context, as it’s challenging to compare the merit of a video game to that of a comedy club or concert. Yet, considering this is GTA, millions are likely to believe it’s the best thing they’ve ever encountered.

“However, the delay truly reflects our intention to refine and deliver the finest possible experience for players, and our company is known for not adhering strictly to release timelines but rather prioritizing the highest quality entertainment,” he added.

Later in the discussion, the Take-Two executive reiterated a point he has made previously: “Generally, when we announce a definitive date, we are usually able to meet that date.” He has consistently emphasized that when the company sets a solid release date for a game, they’re “historically” less likely to postpone it again. Looking at the release timelines of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, historical patterns support this. Let’s hope history repeats itself for GTA 6.
