Nintendo has unveiled its latest financial report for the half-year concluding 30th September 2025, and has provided refreshed sales statistics for the Switch 2.

The console has now achieved sales of at least 10.36 million units according to the official statistics, which appears to exceed even Nintendo’s own expectations. Consequently, the firm has revised its prediction for the fiscal year, raising the anticipated Switch 2 sales from 15 million to 19 million. Software sales for the Switch 2 have experienced a parallel uptick from 45 million to 48 million.

Obviously, this also indicates a decline in sales for the original Switch family of systems, with the console generating a paltry 1.89 million in sales, a substantial decrease of 60% year-over-year. Thus, Nintendo has adjusted its forecast for the Switch, trimming console sales from 4.5 million to 4 million. Conversely, due to the advantages of backwards compatibility, the software projection has been elevated from 105 million to 125 million; a surge of 19%.

Here’s a glance at how the Switch 2 has sold across different areas:

  • Americas – 3.68m
  • Europe – 2.40m
  • Japan – 2.35m
  • Other – 1.93m

Thanks to bundled offerings, Mario Kart World has also achieved impressive sales, moving a total of 9.57 million units since its debut – an astonishing attach rate of over 92%. Meanwhile, it has been verified that Donkey Kong Bananza has sold 3.49 million units, which may not be as high as fans had anticipated. Nevertheless, it’s a solid launch regardless.

Nintendo indicates that a total of 20.62 million software units for the Switch 2 have been sold since its release, of which around 8.10 million were included with the console itself.

A rather strong kickoff for the Switch 2, then! As expected, this also means that the gross profit has experienced a pleasing increase for the company, “growing 25.3% year-on-year to 398.4 billion yen”. It has also elevated its financial forecasts for the fiscal year, projecting net sales to 2,250.0 billion yen and operating profit to 370.0 billion yen.

So, everything seems bright with the Switch 2, doesn’t it? What are your opinions on these revised figures from Nintendo? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
