This week, the initial segment of Stranger Things season 5 concluded on a dramatic note that left enthusiasts yearning for more than mere leftovers this Christmas. In addition to the significant revelation that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) possesses abilities, we also witnessed the comeback of Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) from season 2.
The unexpected entrance of The Lost Sister, also known as Eight, was a fantastic twist to incorporate, and one that we will certainly revisit when volume 2 debuts on December 25. As per the Duffer Brothers, Kali is vital to Stranger Things’ concluding arc. “None of it would unfold as it does if she weren’t engaged again,” Matt Duffer stated to Entertainment Weekly.
Admittedly, some viewers are still needing some convincing regarding the character’s return. However, for the actress portraying El’s estranged companion, she isn’t deeming it a return. “Since we uncover Kali under such distinct circumstances this season, the cliffhanger reveal at the conclusion of episode 4 didn’t really feel like I was reverting to character, but rather it felt like a first unveiling of the brothers’ perspective for her this season and a glimpse into who I personally perceive Kali has consistently been beneath her multitude of identities.”
What will be fascinating to observe is how Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) will manage the situation now that Eleven has a pair of supercharged allies to support her in the ultimate confrontation against the Upside Down. We will find out how the next round unfolds when Stranger Things makes its return with volume 2 on Christmas Day, followed by the finale on New Year’s Eve.
