The Malevolent Empire broadens

We have assumed that it would be on its way to us for a while now, but Dead Cells creator Evil Empire has today at last announced its sleek roguelike, The Rogue Prince of Persia, a release date for Switch.

This title will be available on the eShop (for both Switch and Switch 2) on 16th December, with a physical edition to follow on 10th April 2026… though as a Game-Key Card.

We’ve been monitoring this one ever since it was initially unveiled early last year, but just in case it hasn’t come to your attention yet, here’s a brief overview of what you can anticipate.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a roguelike that combines stylish platforming elements with build-oriented combat. You can anticipate procedurally-generated stages, over 100 distinct weapons and medallions to enhance your build, and numerous (we mean numerous) Dead Cells-style retries.

We’ve included some images of the platforming gameplay below, so you can get a sense of what to expect.

After some time in early access, this one debuted on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series earlier this year. It has already accumulated over 1,000 ‘Very Positive‘ reviews on PC, so let’s hope that the portability of the Switch can maintain the good vibes when it launches for us next month.

Will you be exploring this one on Switch 2 next month? Share your thoughts in the comments.
