H.P. Lovecraft is credited with a vast array of timeless horror narratives that remain profoundly significant within the realms of literature, cinema, television, and gaming. The author’s unique fusion of disturbing cosmic terror blended with sci-fi/fantasy and Gothic settings—often accompanied by a generous amount of weird—is so identifiable that the term Lovecraftian is utilized to portray tales influenced by his creations. Narratives such as The Call of Cthulhu and At the Mountains of Madness are still immensely valuable reading nearly a century after their original publication. These tales, alongside the remainder of the author’s oeuvre, were recently gathered in a two-volume collection entitled The H.P. Lovecraft Experience—and enthusiasts can enjoy a 25% discount on this remarkable compilation at Amazon.
The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society collaborated with publisher Weldon Owen—an imprint of Insight Editions—to assemble the extensive two-volume collection. Released in August with a $100 MSRP, The H.P. Lovecraft Experience Deluxe Box Set is currently discounted to $74.80.
The H.P. Lovecraft Experience Deluxe Box Set (Hardcover)
$74.80 (was $100)
This is likely the most magnificent Lovecraft anthology you can discover at a prominent retailer or bookstore.
The 1,188-page anthology is divided into two visually stunning, dark green volumes bound in leatherette to mimic high-quality editions from Lovecraft’s era. The covers and spines feature foil-stamped designs and lettering.
The H.P. Lovecraft Experience encompasses all of the author’s works, making this a comprehensive source for his novels, novellas, short stories, and additional writings.
The two volumes are housed within a sculpted display case featuring a fresh 3D representation of Cthulhu. When we mention 3D, we imply that Cthulhu appears to emerge from the face of the case, amplifying the fearsome nature of the cosmic entity.
The oversized display box contains more than solely the two volumes, however. The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society devised a brand-new Reader’s Guide that explores 10 of Lovecraft’s short narratives. The guidebook was authored by Sean Branney and Andrew Leman, the co-founders of the Lovecraft Historical Society, and is bound to be an engaging read for both newcomers and seasoned readers. The Reader’s Guide complements the aesthetic of the two primary volumes, but it’s formatted like a notebook. This structure aligns with the overarching theme of the collectibles.
All of the extras are connected to Miskatonic University, a fictional institution in Massachusetts that features prominently in numerous Lovecraft tales, especially those related to the Cthulhu.
Dedicated Lovecraft admirers will likely wish to frame their diploma from Miskatonic University included in this box—but only after you refer to The Undergraduate Course Book, presented as a small booklet. Additional Miskatonic-themed collectibles you’ll discover within the box comprise a bookmark, a library card, a patch, and a decal.
The H.P. Lovecraft Experience is also available as a Kindle ebook for $20. Clearly, you will miss the collectibles and premium presentation,
but you’ll still receive both volumes and the Reader’s Guide. Note: The “paperback edition” on Amazon’s store page does not represent the authentic H.P. Lovecraft Experience. It was independently published by an individual attempting to exploit the system. Avoid purchasing it.

Additional Lovecraft Box Sets & Collections
As a considerable portion of Lovecraft’s oeuvre is in the public domain, numerous horror stories are readily available to read online at no cost. An overwhelming number of Lovecraft collections can also be discovered on Amazon. However, it is crucial to recognize that Lovecraft’s public domain status has led to a plethora of poorly crafted editions produced by various individuals globally.
Interestingly, The H.P. Lovecraft Experience stands out as one of the uncommon collections of the author’s complete works that genuinely presents well. There are more economical alternatives favored by readers, but they may not always be as thorough.
An excellent budget-conscious choice is The H.P. Lovecraft Collection: 6-Book Deluxe Box Set. This collection features clothbound editions of six of the author’s most celebrated works within a display box. The illustrations and cover designs may not be particularly thrilling, but the books themselves are of high quality. Currently, it’s priced at $35.49 (down from $60) on Amazon and qualifies for Amazon’s B2G1 Free Book Sale until October 11. Below is the list of titles contained in the box set:
- At the Mountains of Madness
- The Dunwich Horror
- The Call of Cthulhu
- The Shadow over Innsmouth
- Polaris
- The Color Out of Space
- Rats in the Walls
The same publisher launched The Necronomicon: 5-Book Box Set in paperback in 2021. The Necronomicon contains Lovecraft
narratives as well as Cthulhu Mythos stories authored by various writers. You can obtain The Necronomicon Box Set for $23 (previously $40)–it’s also featured in the B2G1 Free catalog. Just a heads-up: This publisher will also unveil a 928-page hardcover H.P. Lovecraft Collection with illustrated page edges for $25 on November 4.

We’d also suggest the Barnes & Noble Collectible Edition of Lovecraft’s Complete Fiction for $27 (previously $30). This exquisite hardcover edition features a bonded-leather cover, illustrated endpapers, and a ribbon bookmark. Barnes & Noble also offers a Collectible Edition of The Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales for $30.
For another esteemed edition, consider The Complete Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft for $14 (previously $18). This 1,112-page hardcover was released by Chartwell Books in 2016 and remains an excellent choice today. The Complete Tales of H.P. Lovecraft, published in 2019 by Rock Point, is largely the same book, but it features more striking cover artwork and is available for roughly the same price.
