Star Wars Rebels executive producer says Sabine being a Jedi was “absolutely not the plan” for the animated show as it would “step on Ezra’s story” and be “overkill”
By Star Wars Rebel executive producer Henry Gilroy states that they never intended for Sabine to become a Jedi in the animated series, and they are puzzled as to why it occurred in Ahsoka.
“It was definitely not the blueprint… We strongly believed that it not only interfered with Ezra’s narrative but also felt repetitive. Like we have already explored this,” Gilroy informed Pod of Rebellion. “The concept of Sabine training as a Jedi while she is already an exceptional warrior in her own right felt excessive to us.”
“I had no involvement with the Ahsoka series, so it took me by surprise,” Gilroy added. “What I appreciate about the narrative surrounding the Darksaber is that possessing Jedi principles doesn’t necessitate being a Jedi… I believe that’s what truly holds greater significance, instead of Force pushing Ezra a hundred feet when she has never wielded the Force before.”
