Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s recent revival in acclaim caused the game to ascend 123 places in the US best-selling games ranking in May.

During May 2025 (potentially sparked by Star Wars Day) demands for EA to finally produce Star Wars Battlefront 3 heightened to such an extent that even Andor performers were participating along with a former developer. This was such a significant movement that the game attained an all-time peak of Steam players in the eight years since its initial launch, rising to 35,892 players compared to a peak of 10,489 in 2021.

Nevertheless, that success wasn’t confined to Steam, as industry analyst Mat Piscatella shared the top-selling games of May 2025. As one would anticipate, new launches such as Elden Ring Nightreign and Doom The Dark Ages performed well; however, the most notable advancement on the charts was from Star Wars Battlefront 2, which soared from the 135th position in April straight to 12th in May, outpacing new launches such as F1 25 and Capcom Fighting Collection 2.

While the game did not penetrate the top 10 on PlayStation or Xbox, Star Wars Battlefront was the 5th best-selling title on PC in May, ahead of titles like Black Ops 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

One might assume this substantial revival would compel EA to concentrate on a new Star Wars Battlefront installment in the future, but amidst its significant popularity, reports indicated that EA “is concentrating on a limited selection of franchises in the future: Battlefield, The Sims, Skate, and Apex Legends,” which likely rules it out. Additionally, with EA recently terminating its Black Panther project, I can’t express much optimism for any future Disney titles.
