Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch, subscribers will enjoy a benefit. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members who own Shadows will have the opportunity to play the game via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Microsoft just announced this feature as part of its “stream your own game” perk for Ultimate members. However, this applies strictly to digital editions of games, not physical copies. “Stream your own game” is distinct from Xbox’s Play Anywhere program, which provides gamers with both local Windows PC and Xbox versions of the titles if they own either one.

If a game exits Game Pass, it will typically no longer be streamable, even if it has been purchased. This makes the feature particularly valuable, although it’s still uncertain how widely it will be implemented. Other titles included in the “stream your own game” feature are Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It has recently been confirmed as Deck Verified, which means it will run smoothly on the Steam Deck. For PlayStation users, those who play on PS5 Pro will have access to enhanced ray-tracing modes that improve visuals.
Individuals who pre-order Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive the Claws of Awaji expansion, which will be released later this year. However, the expansion will also be available for individual purchase at a subsequent date.
