Speaking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th March)
One moment, you are enjoying the festivities of MAR10 Day, and the next, it’s already the weekend. Where does the time go?
While not quite as grand as last year’s celebration, MAR10 Day 2025 offered some eShop discounts, a new Alarmo theme, and a sneak peek at a delightful 18+ Mario Kart LEGO set. In other updates, we learned that Niantic is selling Pokémon GO and its entire gaming division for a jaw-dropping amount, got a glimpse of the new on-rails space shooter from a veteran Star Fox developer, and got the details on a new Nintendo store opening in San Francisco.
We also shared our impressions of Atelier Yumia, which we found to be a lot of fun, although it was “clearly designed with more powerful hardware than the Switch in mind.”
So, what’s everyone up to this weekend?

Those tricky little nonogram puzzles have got me hooked again with Mario’s Picross on NSO. I haven’t played every game in the series, but wow, I really love seeing those cute little images at the end of each level!
Gavin’s talk about Hades lately has got me eager to return to the underworld for a few runs as well, although I have guests over this weekend, so I can’t see myself finding much time to play outside of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Sports.

Maybe it’s the sheer volume of rumors about a remake, or perhaps it’s just that I’m feeling nostalgic for a happier time in my life, but I’ve been spending quite a bit of time playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lately. It’s a habit I plan to continue this weekend wherever possible.
I hope to do some foraging for wild garlic, and I also picked up a copy of The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants on the NES from one of my friends, so I might just give that a try as well. I know it’s early in the season, but the unseasonably warm weather seems to have caused an early appearance of the tastiest alliums. Wish me luck!

For the majority of the weekend, I’ll be playing Split Fiction with my girlfriend, but aside from that, I plan to jump back into Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s been quite a while since I last played, and I’ve made some good progress with our not-so-heroic Link. I believe it’s time to dust off our golden hero for another adventure through Hyrule.
I’ll be honest, though – I’ll probably just keep going with Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It’s taking me forever since I only seem to play on weekends – funny, right?
Happy gaming, everyone!

I completed Hades! By that, I mean I escaped enough times to reach the true ending, though I still feel like I’ve only seen about 50% of the game. The backlog calls, however, and I do enjoy rolling credits. Arco is still on my To-Play list, I was having a blast with Yakuza>, I’ve just started Ori, and Hades has me eager to dive back into Transistor. So much to keep busy with. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Did I seriously think I could finish FANTASIAN Neo Dimension before Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition arrived? I certainly did, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I feel like I’m not even halfway through it, but I am really enjoying it so far and hope to complete it eventually, perhaps after I’m done with Mira (next century then). Not much else going on with the Switch, so I’ll likely be replaying Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X and its sequel. I might also play Metal Slader Glory: Director’s Cut for the Super Famicom. Even though visual novels aren’t typically my style, I’ve always loved the Famicom classic and am now more than happy to dive into its 16-bit enhanced version. And on that note…
My game of the week is Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special! It only took three decades, but fans have translated the visual novel story mode into English, written by none other than the online game producer Suda51. It’s about a rookie upstart who rises through the ranks in the wrestling world to become a legend.
