Sony Issues Apology Following Nearly Day-Long PlayStation Network Outage

Compensation totaling five days has been granted to all PS Plus members affected by the disruption.

Sony has expressed its regret to dedicated players after the PlayStation Network was offline for nearly a full 24 hours over the weekend.

Although Sony has not disclosed the reason behind the issue—only mentioning “an operational problem” when confirming that the problem was rectified the following day, on February 10—the extensive outage affected almost all aspects of PlayStation’s services, including account management, online gaming, PlayStation Video, the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Plus.

Some PS5 users also experienced difficulties even when playing in “offline” mode, as the ability to verify game permissions and licenses was similarly hindered during the outage.
