Original Story: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds boasts a significant roster of characters, and it appears Sega might not be finished yet.
During a conversation with Polygon at the Brasil Game Show, series producer Takashi Iizuka indicated that DLC could conceivably extend beyond a year. This will largely rely on the amount of engagement the game garners from players and the feedback the team is getting.
Here is precisely what he mentioned, emphasizing that Sonic Team is also receptive to suggestions – from character requests to other in-game modifications:
“Players really appreciate the game, which boosts our confidence to create more content…If a sufficient number of players are engaging and discussing the game, there are dialogues around it. We have planned one year of DLC, but it could transition into year two, or even year three… Let us know your desires!.. These are possibilities because it is an online game. We could introduce new gadgets; we might balance the game differently.”
Regarding the new DLC, Sega has today revealed that the subsequent free character update for this title will debut this week on 22nd October 2025. If you haven’t caught the news, it’s Joker from the Persona series, along with a fresh themed festival.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is presently available on the Switch and will launch later this year on the Switch 2.
If this game were to receive further content updates in the future, what type of announcements would you like to see? Additional character DLC? Perhaps some new tracks? Share your opinions in the comments.
