Indeed, no Game-Key Card!

Sega has achieved a significant success by declaring that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for the Switch 2 will not utilize a Game-Key Card upon its physical release in early 2026.

According to a press statement, the firm confirmed that Crossworlds will debut digitally on Switch 2 during the Holiday 2025 season and physically in Early 2026, offering two editions for digital acquisition. The standard edition is priced at £64.99, while the Digital Deluxe edition is available for £74.99. Currently, the pricing for the physical edition remains undisclosed.

Importantly, Sega emphasizes that the physical edition “will contain the complete base game on the cartridge”. So, no Game-Key Card! Celebrate! We have reached out to Sega for confirmation, but the language appears quite explicit to us.

Sega has also reiterated that players who purchase the game on Switch 1 will qualify for a paid upgrade to the version on Switch 2. Pricing for this has yet to be announced at this point, but we would anticipate it to be approximately £10 or so. We’ll observe (it has been confirmed that the upgrade bundle will cost $10 in the US).

Lastly, a new trailer showcasing customization within the game has been released. It looks incredibly impressive thus far, and we are eagerly looking forward to experiencing the game in full when it launches.

If you’re not concerned about waiting for the Switch 2 version, Crossworlds will also be available elsewhere, including Switch 1, on 25th September 2025.
