In 2006, Scarface: The World is Yours was launched as an alternative timeline sequel to the legendary 1983 movie featuring Al Pacino as Tony Montana. The game has been inaccessible for quite a while, but it has recently surfaced as a prospective re-release on Epic Games Store and Steam. However, there seems to be little known about the publisher, EC Digital, and its actual occurrence remains uncertain.
As indicated by PC Gamer, Scarface: The World is Yours was inadvertently launched ahead of schedule on Epic Games Store, and the game page remains active. It is also featured on Steam, which provided an explanation regarding the premature release.
“Due to a technical glitch occurring during backend configuration, the game was accidentally made live on a different platform sooner than anticipated. We wish to clarify that our planned long-term release platform includes Steam, and we are now expediting our efforts to finalize this version,” the announcement states.
As Scarface was launched too early, Wario64 and others observed that it includes two fan-created patches, SilentPatch and Fusion Fix, which render the game playable. The developer of SilentPatch, Silent, mentioned that the patches were integrated into this launch without permission, but he also recognized that it wasn’t “required as per the license, but would have been appreciated.”
Efforts to contact EC Digital yielded no contact details, and it remains unclear whether Universal approved this re-release. Following the initial reports, EC Digital has issued a message on Steam stating it has requested Valve to temporarily conceal the page “while we navigate current licensing and technical issues.”

The announcement further explains that EC Digital’s intentions were hindered by the unanticipated early launch, and the company wishes “to apologize to the community for any confusion and concern this situation may have caused. If circumstances change and we can reintroduce the game in the future, we will inform you immediately.”
At this moment, it doesn’t seem to be proceeding. Nevertheless, the Scarface Ultimate Collector’s Edition was released on Blu-ray earlier this month.
