Not everyone had the chance to experience the excitement of the GameCube era, yet a brand new rumor has reignited hopes that this nostalgic Nintendo console may eventually make a comeback.

According to podcaster ‘Nate the Hate’, who previously revealed Game Boy and Nintendo 64 updates for the Switch Online service, GameCube titles might be on the horizon for Nintendo’s subscription platform within what could be the “initial launch year” of the Switch 2’s existence.

“I’ve heard that GameCube will be arriving on NSO. It’s just a question of when, not if.”

He also mentions that Nintendo may deliver a “pleasant little roadmap” outlining the GameCube game lineup for the NSO application.

This latest news follows the discovery of a “game controller” FCC filing by Nintendo in March, sparking speculation about the GameCube controller’s compatibility with the Switch 2 in some form or fashion.

Nintendo has previously responded to inquiries about adding other classic platforms to Switch Online, stating at the time that they had “no details to provide” and instead spotlighting notable GameCube re-releases for the Switch.

Do you believe that we will see GameCube games become part of the NSO service in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments.
