It has been quite a while since a new title has been released in Namco’s Ridge Racer series, and it remains uncertain if the franchise will make a comeback. In the meantime, Ridge Racer 64—initially launched in February 2000—has made a delightful reappearance on Nintendo Switch. As shown in the announcement trailer below, Ridge Racer 64 still possesses that classic arcade-style charm even after a quarter century.
Regrettably, this game is not available for individual purchase. It has been re-released today exclusively for subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack—which costs $50 per year for individuals and $80 for families in exchange for access to N64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance titles as well as downloadable content for newer games.
