Revamping Comfort: Why This Gaming Chair is a Must-Have at a Great Price
Premium gaming chairs are rarely inexpensive, and when you shop among the top, most reputable brands you’ll quickly notice this. The names “Herman Miller”, “Secretlab”, and even “Razer” instantly evoke thoughts of $600+ price tags, and as you opt for the premium models from these companies, you enter a realm of seriously high costs.
Corsair may be more widely recognized for its gaming PC components than its furniture, but if there’s one well-established gaming hardware brand right now that’s making premium gaming chair offerings more attainable, it’s this one. I just reviewed Corsair’s TC500 Luxe – in fact, I’m still seated in it right now – and despite having a $499.99 price, it’s currently seeing a drop of nearly $100 at Amazon which brings it down to $404.20.
This $95 price reduction only applies to the Sherwood green model; however, both the Frost (white) and Shadow (grey) versions are currently priced at $424.99. I’m genuinely surprised to see this chair receive such a substantial price cut this February. Firstly, this isn’t typically the time of year I expect large discounts on any of the top gaming chairs. Secondly, this chair only launched late in 2024, so for it to already have dropped by more than $50 is quite remarkable.
Should you purchase the Corsair TC500 Luxe?
You may be questioning why I believe the Corsair TC500 Luxe isn’t necessarily suitable for everyone. To start, just take a look at it. It doesn’t quite blend in with the array of somewhat similar, racing seat styled, RGB-illuminated gaming chairs from specialized manufacturers. It doesn’t even follow the minimalist Swedish design that makes the Fractal Refine unique. This is a chair that resembles a modern leather reading chair more than a gaming throne. It’s like something you’d expect a bond villain to rotate in while ominously awaiting your arrival.
I would argue this seat strikes a balance between having all the gaming features you require for your desk setup or console gaming while also looking good for work at the same time, which is a difficult balance to achieve. The Boulies Master Series achieves this as well, and both chairs offer a more sophisticated look than the Secretlab Titan Evo, which is so ubiquitous that it’s almost instantly recognized.
The TC500 Luxe is incredibly comfortable and maintains an excellent balance between softness and firmness for posture support. It features built-in lumbar support and a plush head pillow that feels softer than any others I’ve tried. It has a spacious seat designed to accommodate various sitting positions and body shapes. However, there’s another reason I would suggest this chair isn’t for everyone. Its armrests are both exceptional and problematic.
The innovative “omniflex” design Corsair has implemented with this chair is impressive. It allows you to rest your weight on your elbows without a rigid armrest applying pressure or pinching a nerve. However, for some reason, even when adjusted to their narrowest setting, the armrests are still too far apart. This is a common complaint among reviewers, and it’s a significant drawback. Personally, I’ve come to terms with it, and I’m still using the TC500 Luxe as my daily chair because it doesn’t ruin the experience for me. Nevertheless, it’s a flaw I can’t wrap my head around for how it made it through to final production – especially when the comfort of the seat is so well considered.
So, is the Corsair TC500 Luxe right for you? If it is, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab it before the price goes back up.
