MLB The Show 25 is set to release this March, and as the first installment in years not to launch on day one for Game Pass, Sony’s San Diego Studio needed to persuade you to spend your money at launch. New features arriving in the game this year might just accomplish that, with the usually monotonous Road to the Show mode receiving substantial enhancements and Diamond Dynasty eliminating a mechanic that players found cumbersome.
Instead of simply completing a basic character creation process before being drafted by an MLB team, this year’s Road to the Show mode will allow you to start your career as a high school player before transitioning to college and the pros.
Authentic amateur-level audio has been introduced specifically for this aspect, showcasing the sharp “ping” of aluminum bats and the distinct sound of a player striking a chain-link fence. In addition, “hundreds” of new gameplay animations have been included, along with a new G.O.A.T. challenge setting and an “ambush hitting” feature.
The development system for Road to the Show has also been completely revamped, which Sony claims provides you “greater control over your player’s progression, including customizing Perks to your preference.” With any luck, it will help prevent your players from becoming too narrowly defined into just a few archetypes, as they might have in previous years.
