Amazon unexpectedly replenished its supply of the freshly discontinued Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car. The sought-after, 458-brick construction kit was announced for discontinuation by Lego together with a pair of other Super Mario Lego releases during May. Since that notice, virtually every large retailer has exhausted their remaining inventory. Impressively, Amazon is simultaneously slicing the set’s price, now listing it for only $24 instead of the previous $30. Because the online giant had been selling it at full value lately, this cut could mark the very last opportunity to capture the charming Super Mario set on the cheap.
Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car (71431)
- Amazon — $23.95 (
$30) | Available - Target — $24 (

Bowser’s Muscle Car has vanished from Lego’s “Last Chance to Buy” webpage, confirming its retirement and guaranteeing it will never return to official Lego Stores. Two additional Lego Super Mario kits are also slated for extinction: the 598-piece Soda Jungle Maker Set (71434) and the 173-piece Goomba’s Playground (71433). These kits can still be found at select merchants, with Amazon and Target currently presenting the strongest markdowns. As an addendum, Amazon remains the sole platform selling the complete quartet of retired Super Mario Donkey Kong sets.
Lego Super Mario – Bowser’s Muscle Car (458 Bricks)
$23.95 (previously $30)
Bowser’s Muscle Car is a 458-brick build classed as a Lego Super Mario expansion kit, yet moonlights as an eye-catching–and surprisingly wallet-friendly–display model for devotees of the classic antagonist. The molded Bowser minifigure can be posed solo or plopped behind the steering wheel of his trademark cruiser from Super Mario 3D World.
The uncommon purple-with-yellow car measures 6″ long, 4″ wide, and 2.5″ tall. It ships with a pair of bomb accessories to hurl at your Lego Super Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures. Should an interactive Mario figurine commandeer the ride, the Action Tag embedded in the driver’s seat activates exclusive sound effects and reactions. Remember—those interactive tricks require a Bluetooth-enabled starter-set figure.
The retirement of Bowser’s Muscle Car may be connected to the fresh Lego Mario Kart: Bowser’s Castle kit that arrived August 1. That $100, 1,068-brick set includes Bowser plus a Yoshi kart, and the King Koopa fig is identical to the one in the Muscle Car.
For more racers and karts to pit against the muscle car, here are the currently available Lego Mario Kart packages. Note that Bowser’s auto is larger than most of the little karts.

Lego Super Mario – Soda Jungle Maker Kit (598 Pieces)
$41 instead of $55
The Soda Jungle Maker Kit delivers a trove of distinctive bricks that can inject extra color and variety into your Lego Mario stages. One of the slickest expansion sets around, it bundles several miniature builds instead of one large showpiece. The Soda Jungle Maker has dipped to $35 in earlier promos, but today it’s priced at $41.
The 598-part kit supplies three Lego Mario minifigs allied with Bowser: a Piranha Plant, Wiggler, and Pink Shy Guy. Alongside the characters, you’ll construct recognizable scenery pulled from New Super Mario Bros. U’s Soda Jungle world. Highlights include a Special Pipe plus the Customization Machine, accompanied by dual Question Blocks that link up with the Lego Mario starter figures. A handful of extra Action Tags are sprinkled throughout, making this a top pick for kids who dig both building and racing through Mario stages in Lego form.
Piranha Plant fans should also eye the 540-piece Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant. It’s one of a few Nintendo-themed display builds aimed at adult collectors, and it’s currently 20% off on Amazon.
Lego Super Mario – Goombas’ Playground (173 Pieces)
$11.24, previously $15
The Goombas’ Playground is the tiniest set among the three freshly retired Lego Super Mario boxes. This 173-piece package delivers three Goombas—each sporting a different facial expression—plus a seesaw and a hollow tree trunk with small perches. Grabscore this $15 bundle for just $11.24 while stock remains.
Nintendo aficionados can soon slip a brand-new Lego set onto their holiday wishlists. Arriving October 1, Lego is unleashing a near-perfect 1:1 recreation of the original Game Boy. Comprised of 421 pieces, the adult display kit includes a pair of buildable cartridges, three lenticular screens, plus two stands—one for the handheld and another for a single game, while the extra cart can nestle inside the device itself. Although advance orders have vanished at many outlets, the Lego Game Boy is still attainable for $60 at select retailers like Amazon and Walmart.
