Speculation regarding a possible remake of Resident Evil 0 has been circulating for a while, but a recent article from mp1st (thanks to Pure Xbox) has provided additional support for the claim.
The remake is reported to be genuine and is currently operating under the codename ‘Chamber’, likely a direct nod to the main character Rebecca Chambers. It is said that voice and motion capture preparations began in 2024, featuring Guardians of the Galaxy performer Jon McLaren in a prominent part.
McLaren’s CV mentions a ‘lead’ position in ‘PROJECT CHAMBER (Upcoming AAA Video Game)’ with Beyond Capture Studios, which previously collaborated with Capcom on the Resident Evil 4 remake and Street Fighter 6. While not confirmed as a primary lead yet, it appears conceivable that McLaren could portray RE0’s Billy Coen.

Mp1st further indicates that “the remake is anticipated to elaborate on the original narrative, whilst the central plot will stay intact”. This seems to be standard for RE remakes, in our view. They briefly explore a few possible new scenes, but we won’t share those specifics here. You may visit the article for further details.
Notable Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem predicts that Capcom’s timeline includes a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake set for 2027, with Resident Evil 0 expected in 2028. As we are aware, Resident Evil Requiem, the upcoming principal installment in the series, is slated to debut on Switch 2 on 27th February 2026.
As usual, we won’t consider this certain until Capcom provides formal affirmation. If the timeline holds any truth, it’s probable that we won’t receive news about Resident Evil 0 for the next few years, at least.
