“Remake of ‘Crack of Dawn’ Studio Reportedly Wraps Up Amid Developer Departures”
Reports suggest that the studio behind *Until Dawn* remake, Ballistic Moon, has effectively “shut down,” with claims indicating that only a few employees, “at most,” are left – none of whom are developers.
Based in the UK, Ballistic Moon announced a wave of redundancies last year, stating it had made the “difficult choice to greatly reduce our team to safeguard the future of our studio.” However, a recent report from Insider Gaming claims the studio quietly executed a second round of layoffs towards the end of last year.
According to sources from the publication, approximately 40 employees were let go in October, with the remaining staff retained to provide post-launch support for Ballistic’s *Until Dawn* remake. However, it is reported that these developers – totaling around 20 individuals – lost their positions in December, leaving only the founders and “possibly” a few staff “at most.” Reportedly, all of Ballistic’s PR, marketing, and development teams have now vanished.
“A source revealed to the publication, ‘People are posting bugs they’ve encountered in the game to keep the team informed,’ but there is no one left to work on updates for the game anymore.”
Insider Gaming states that the job losses stem from unsuccessful efforts by Ballistic’s founders to propose new projects, secure funding, and maintain progress “going forward.” Additionally, discussions were held with Sony to secure financing for further *Until Dawn* updates, and potentially another game, but these talks did not lead to any results. Eurogamer has reached out to Ballistic for comment.
News of further layoffs at Ballistic coincides with ongoing job reductions and studio closures across the gaming industry. February alone witnessed closures from Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. Games San Diego, alongside confirmed layoffs at the Marvel Opponents’ US development team, The Callisto
