Rare Swap 2 Models Allegedly Fetching $40,000 on Chinese Dark Web

According to a recent post on the Switch 2 subreddit (thanks to wccftech), initial models of Nintendo’s upcoming new console are being offered on the Chinese black market for nearly $40,000.

This information is reportedly sourced from the same leaker on the Xiahongshu forums who disclosed the CAD model for the Switch 2 in 2024, alongside a screenshot showing communications between the leaker and a black market seller, though much of the detail is obscured.

One might question why anyone would consider paying such a high price for an early Switch 2 unit, but the theory is that the leaker is likely offering the unit to accessory manufacturers. Creating products based solely on specifications is one thing, but having the opportunity to actually test accessories with a genuine Switch 2 unit could very well justify the hassle and expense, given the potential returns in the coming months and years.

Of course, it’s also possible that this could be entirely false, but you know how these leakers operate. Give it a few weeks, and we will likely see blurry, cropped images of the unit itself popping up on Famiboards or similar sites. And thus, the cycle goes on.
