Hands off!

A fresh video uploaded on the Nintendo Today! app discloses that the forthcoming Switch 2 can be fully secured with a PIN.
Similar to mobile phones and tablets, a PIN can be set to deter others from activating the console from sleep mode and playing without consent. It’s still unknown whether the number of digits can be modified, or if it’s a typical 4-digit PIN, but nonetheless, it’s a great security feature.
The original Switch does not have this feature and instead needs the same button to be pressed thrice to unlock the console. This function can also be turned off, but there is no alternative to set a PIN.
It might seem an unnecessary feature, but if you intend to take your Switch 2 with you regularly, and should you – heaven forbid – lose it, you can be reassured knowing that most likely others won’t be able to access it.
Also, to clarify, this is not comparable with the options provided through the Parental Controls app on the Switch. There is a PIN feature there, but it is used to temporarily lift the parental control limitations set by parents.
Interestingly, it has also been recently discovered that the new Mouse Mode capability on the Switch 2’s home screen can bring a PC-style cursor to navigate the different menus.
