Precipitation occurs, breezes circulate, and the latest PlayStation 5 system update isn’t presenting anything groundbreaking this week. Sony has verified that the Version: 25.05-11.60.00 update is currently active for PS5 consoles, contributing the typical level of additional stability that you’d anticipate from such firmware modifications.
“We’ve enhanced system software performance and stability,” the succinct patch notes state.
The preceding system update also introduced a minor stability enhancement to PS5, with the last significant update being the Version: 25.03-11.20.00 release. This brought audio focus—a feature intended to promote wider accessibility and enable players to perceive faint in-game sounds and voice chats more distinctly—and it also reinstated home screen themes inspired by various PlayStation eras.
In other PlayStation updates, the forthcoming major first-party title for the console, Ghost of Yotei, was prominently featured during a recent State of Play livestream. We were presented with numerous new details and an abundance of gameplay for the anticipated samurai sandbox, as well as new limited-edition PS5 consoles inspired by it. This year has also witnessed the emergence of a new trend on PS5 consoles, as several of the most favored games released for the platform weren’t solely from Sony, but also from its competitor Microsoft.
First-party Xbox titles have been appearing on PS5 quite frequently—after a spell of timed exclusivity on PC and Xbox Series X|S—and the next game set for the Sony platform is Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl in late 2025.
