In the same series of Switch 2 submissions to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in the United States, it appears that support for Wi-Fi 6 has been validated.

As emphasized by The Verge, Wi-Fi 6 means “quicker Wi-Fi for your Switch 2” – with the publication elaborating on what to expect from this front (and what Nintendo’s new hardware may not potentially support):

“The submissions indicate that it will accommodate Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) networks with up to 80MHz of bandwidth, an increase from Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) on the original Switch. Nonetheless, it appears to lack support for Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E, and it has only passed the FCC with tests for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, not the quicker / shorter-range 6GHz band.”

The same source provides a concise overview of this enhancement from Wi-Fi 5 (also known as the current technology for the Nintendo Switch):

“Wi-Fi 6 is the next evolution of Wi-Fi. It will still perform the same fundamental function — connect you to the internet — but with a suite of new technologies designed to enhance efficiency, accelerating connections in the process.”

Another interesting finding in the latest batch of submissions relates to the Switch 2’s connection ports, indicating that users will apparently be able to charge the device from either the USB-C port located at the top of the screen or through the one at the bottom of the unit. This is the explanation provided by test engineers:

“The EUT is fitted with two rechargeable USB ports (top and bottom side)”

This recent update regarding the Switch 2 seems to have also confirmed the reintroduction of NFC support (which Nintendo has previously used to facilitate amiibo features in earlier generations). You can learn more about this in our latest article here on Nintendo Life.
