Poll: After One Month, How Often Are You Actually Using ‘Nintendo Today’?
The past few weeks in the Nintendo universe have been exceptionally hectic. When queried, “How long has Nintendo Today! been available?”, our responses could vary from three days to three years.
In reality, the daily news application debuted exactly one month ago today, on 27th March 2025. This means we’ve had a complete 31 days to observe the calendar functionality, personalize our theme (this author selected Pikmin from day one and hasn’t looked back) and explore the daily updates. The pressing question is, has the excitement faded for you yet? Was it even there at the start?
Credit to Nintendo, the app launched with a significant announcement. On its inaugural full day, Nintendo Today exclusively disclosed the March 2027 premiere date for the live-action Zelda film. Boom. We all presumed the app would offer merely images of character sprites and 3D renderings, but Nintendo hit us with a major scoop right off the bat, as if to declare, “You seek major news? We have it.”
This Zelda reveal effectively persuaded us that genuine news would be shared through this medium, and we should probably activate notifications and set up that iOS widget because surely more announcements would follow. Right?
In the days subsequent, we’ve seen a new image of the Switch 2 and the ‘C’ Button — that was intriguing — and… uhh… some innovative concept art? Sure, we’ve also encountered numerous rotating unit models, some of the simplest silhouette quizzes we’ve ever seen, and several reposts for fantastic Nintendo initiatives that haven’t garnered enough attention (like those charming Pikmin shorts). However, regarding substantial, noteworthy updates, the app has been relatively sparse.
That being said, it remains a new venture, and Nintendo has consistently introduced fresh content daily, as promised. The anticipation of something major keeps us checking the app each morning (every day is like Christmas Eve), but we wouldn’t label it an ‘essential download‘ just yet. Unless Nintendo reveals Super Mario Odyssey 2 exclusively through it 30 seconds after this article goes live.
