Extraction shooters generally draw a rather dedicated audience focused on overpowering the competitors around them, but an intriguing observation has surfaced regarding Arc Raiders: playing solo appears to be a surprisingly laid-back experience. Yes, multiplayer matches typically lead to indiscriminate killings, yet solo gamers are sharing that the community is notably willing to assist and partake in some collaboration with their fellow raiders.

“Going solo – I anticipated a total free for all,” noted Reddit user iReaddit-KRTORR writes. “Survive or be eliminated. All for one. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how relaxed and supportive people are in solo. Most players seem reluctant to lose their equipment unnecessarily, which encourages a more passive approach. Don’t misunderstand me, I’ve still been taken out, betrayed, shot on sight, killed at the extraction, etc., but that’s part of the game. And the uncertainty keeps it thrilling too. This game is fantastic.”

“I’ve been rushing up to individuals asking for directions on where to find quest items, and they’ll even accompany me as if I can’t locate the eggs at the grocery store,” remarks GreggsAficionado in reply.

My experience thus far with other players from r/ArcRaiders

“The relaxed solo community reminds me greatly of the initial launch of Sea of Thieves when everyone was quite laid-back with one another,” says PClueless, and that thought has certainly piqued my interest. I’ve never been drawn to extraction shooters, but I had a short-lived fascination with Sea of Thieves, and my most cherished memories from that game involve encounters with other players who didn’t aim to simply take me out. (A shoutout to that one individual who put on a fake Australian accent and demanded to see my “papers” – I still think about you from time to time, mate.)

Of course, as time passed, Sea of Thieves gradually shifted into a PvP free-for-all where the majority of players were out for blood, and a similar fate could eventually befall Arc Raiders. Yet for the time being, if you enter the solo queue, you may discover a more relaxed form of online multiplayer experience than what you’re accustomed to.

If you require some additional assistance, these are the optimal skills to select first in Arc Raiders.
