Pikmin visuals

Nintendo astonished us all last month by revealing that Pikmin 4 would receive a complimentary content update at some stage in November. Well, that “some stage” finally has a date — it’s today!

Indeed, Pikmin 4 was formally updated to version 1.1.0 this morning, introducing new gameplay features such as difficulty settings, the ‘Field Camera’ item, Decor Pikmin, and more. It may not be the spectacular ‘Switch 2 Edition’ that we were all secretly wishing for (you won’t discover any additional benefits on the new hardware here), but it is a reason to jump back into a new save file, and we could all use that.

Apart from these content enhancements, the update also offers new control settings, bonus Pikmin Bloom integration, and several bug corrections. The patch has even been implemented in the game’s free demo, allowing you to witness some of these newcomers in action without spending a dime.

The complete patch notes were published on the Nintendo Support website, and we have compiled them below for your review:

Pikmin 4 ver. 1.1.0 (11th November 2025)

Newly Introduced Gameplay

  • You can now select from three distinct activity levels for creatures: Relaxed, Normal, and Fierce.
    • This can be altered at any time from the Settings in Options (- Button).
  • You can now capture images with the “Field Camera” item and embellish them with stamps and frames.
    • The Field Camera is added to your inventory on the morning of day 2.
    • If resuming save data from before the software update, it will be added to your inventory when you return to the Rescue Command Post and morning arrives.
  • ”Decor Pikmin” will now feature in the storyline.
    • To get Decor Pikmin to join your team, after rescuing the Rescue Corps Ranger Dingo, use the Field Camera to photograph a Decor Pikmin.
  • By sharing the data of Decor Pikmin who have joined your team in the full edition of Pikmin 4 with the smart device app Pikmin Bloom, you can also acquire seedlings for these same Decor Pikmin in Pikmin Bloom.
    • You can transmit the Nintendo Account ID and discovered Decor Pikmin data once you complete exploration on the day the Decor Pikmin was found.
    • The Nintendo Account must be the same for the player using Pikmin 4 and the one using Pikmin Bloom.
  • You can now utilize “Roll Over,” allowing you to start another playthrough while carrying over some of the save data from a file that has completed the storyline.
    • With save data available that has finished the storyline, select an empty Rescue Database on the file selection screen.
  • If you have previously reached the morning of day 2 in the storyline, you may bypass that introduction when playing again from the start.
    • You commence from exploration day 2, heading to Sun-Speckled Terrace after creating an ID Badge.

Newly Introduced Controls

The following control configurations have been incorporated into Settings in the Options menu (- Button).

  • You can toggle between enabling and disabling Auto Target Lock for Cursor.
  • You may choose either the cursor or the player avatar as the focal point of the whistle.
    • This is set to “Player Avatar” when you start with the activity level set to “Relaxed,” but it can be changed at any point.
  • You can now select either “Normal” or “Precise” for the arrow speed that appears when you hold down X to aim. Setting this to “Precise” will facilitate adjustments to the direction of the Pikmin’s Charge and Oatchi’s Rush.

Bug Corrections

  • Rectified other issues to enhance the gameplay experience.

Note: A patch with identical changes has also been distributed for the Pikmin 4 demo (Ver. 1.1.0). The demo version cannot connect to the Pikmin Bloom smart device application.
