A leak has emerged, of a sort, granting access to more than two hours of Bungie‘s enigmatic and long-awaited Marathon for viewing. The video presents an insightful glance at the current status of the extraction shooter, highlighting the gameplay and interface across various maps.
This comes thanks to a Bilibili user who shared recordings of their experience during Marathon’s October Closed Technical Test. Across the clips, totaling 132 minutes—available at the moment of writing—we can observe Dire Marsh, Perimeter, and Outpost, showcasing a blend of familiar assets that have now been refreshed and entirely new elements.
Perimeter was evaluated in April, and it now appears significantly improved compared to the images and details from that period. It’s more vibrant, simpler to navigate, and looks generally more polished. Outpost is entirely original, slightly more cozy than the previous two, allowing players to get into intense shootouts more swiftly.

The sniper rifle, shotgun, and assault weapon see considerable usage by the player, appearing effective in the anticipated ways. Marathon’s vivid, lively aesthetic enhances the weapons, providing them with a unique style on-screen. The interface seems neat and simplistic as well; however, since this is still in development, anticipate some or all of these components to morph to a degree between now and the next glimpse of the game in action.
Bungie has been holding these sessions under rigorous NDA, prohibiting individuals from discussing their observations, which is why so much gameplay is particularly remarkable. The studio revealed Marathon in 2023, but development commenced well prior to that, and thus far, the game has undergone several internal transformations within the company, including an acquisition by Sony, layoffs, and reorganization.
Initially, we anticipated a release date in this past September, but it has now been
postponed indefinitely, however, Sony has asserted that it will launch before the conclusion of March 2026. Whether this remains true is another matter altogether, but an additional playtest is scheduled for December. The development of Marathon is turning out to be a lengthy process, pun intended, and the conclusion might still be some time away.
