Team Cherry adopted an unconventional promotional approach for Hollow Knight Silksong, mostly staying quiet while the community spiralled into surreal silkposting; the silence, however, isn’t due to a shortage of material. The debut title’s technical director has clarified that the crew just prioritises crafting games above all else.
Original Hollow Knight tech lead and current head of indie outfit Ember League, David Kazi, reminisced about his stint alongside Team Cherry in a chat with the New York Times. “Their drive is through the roof,” he remarked about the tight-knit Hollow Knight squad. “If you’re not hearing from them at the moment, odds are they’re back at the studio grinding away.”
That scenario seems likely, given that Team Cherry’s Ari Gibson just noted “the most intriguing part at this point is figuring out what else we can pile on,” affirming that the studio harbours a “bold roadmap” for upcoming Silksong add-ons. They’ve likewise pledged to fix the clumsy Simplified Chinese localisation that triggered a flood of thumbs-down reviews. (Mind you, they ought to toast that colossal Steam debut as well.)
Whether or not they’ve been grinding non-stop for seven straight years, the hush-hush tactic was bound to suit Team Cherry—seriously, have you glanced at the fandom lately? Plenty are still waging a conflict that’s long finished, acting as though Silksong never launched or policing play-styles on message boards. Now picture how unhinged and ubiquitous the silkposting became before release.
