Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have officially commenced in the United States – and apart from a few scattered batches, inventory has nearly depleted. This leaves Nintendo as the primary source of hope for individuals who have not yet obtained the console, but the company is now reiterating all of its cautionary statements regarding the official pre-order system.

With the unveiling of the Switch 2, My Nintendo Store – the corporation’s authorized online shopping site in the US – permitted enthusiasts to enroll for notifications to pre-order the device. These notifications were intended to begin distribution on May 8, even prior to the delays caused by tariffs.

“We appreciate everyone who has already shown interest in making a purchase from My Nintendo Store,” the firm states in a recent update on the official website. “We are excited about the incredible demand for Nintendo Switch 2! Due to this overwhelming interest, we will be diligently working to process orders as stock becomes available, but we cannot guarantee delivery by June 5. Your invitation email may arrive post the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. We will confirm your shipping date once your purchase is made.”

Indeed, this indicates you might not receive a notification to acquire a Switch 2 from Nintendo until after its official release. The company has emphasized that “release-day delivery is not ensured” in its official FAQ since the pre-order site was first activated, but it appears that the current retail rush has compelled Nintendo to reinforce this caution.
