Nintendo hasn’t delayed in refining and upgrading the Switch 2 since its debut in June, and following an update at the start of this month, the gaming behemoth has now advanced the Switch 2 (and original Switch) firmware to Version 20.5.0.
Once more, the emphasis lies on “stability enhancements” to ensure both the new and previous hybrid devices remain highly stable. Here are the official patch notes, provided by Nintendo’s support website:

Dataminer ‘OatmealDome’ has disclosed some details regarding this newest update on social platforms. Although the patch notes indicate “stability” as the lone adjustment, there seems to be “some code associated with account management and system time” that has been revised (via SwitchBrew). As for Switch 2, no further specifics about these patch notes are available at the moment, but according to the same source, there might still be compatibility adjustments for current Switch titles.
If we uncover any more information about this recent update (or if there are any compatibility modifications for existing Switch titles, similar to the last update), we will inform you. This comes after an update at the beginning of this month, which also presented stability enhancements. Nintendo released several stability fixes in July and earlier in June as well.
To manually initiate this latest system update, go to System Settings > System Update > from where you should be able to download and update your device. Nintendo also refreshed its music application today, introducing a new track from Princess Peach’s Switch adventure.
