When Nintendo declared price hikes for first-party Switch 2 accessories, the anticipated lineup of The Legend of Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo went unmentioned. Many likely thought the seven Amiibo figures debuting with the Switch 2 on June 5 would keep their initially stated prices. After all, these prices were already above what we’ve come to anticipate for Amiibo. Yet, it has now been revealed that Amiibo figures are facing the most significant price surges.
Retailers such as Walmart and GameStop have revised their listings for the new Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo figures. Each figure has risen by $10 compared to their original pricing, aligning with the largest increase alongside the Switch 2 Dock Set. Notably, the Switch 2 Dock Set has surged from $110 to $120 but is only necessary for users desiring an additional dock. Conversely, the $10 increase for Amiibo figures represents a substantially greater percentage hike.
Consequently, Tears of the Kingdom’s Champions Amiibo will now be priced at $30 each. A new Zelda Amiibo inspired by Mineru’s Construct is anticipated to be released later this year, although its price remains unconfirmed. Traditionally, Zelda Amiibo figures are priced at $16, yet some have $20 MSRP such as Tears of the Kingdom’s Ganondorf.
On the other hand, Street Fighter 6’s Amiibo figures will be priced at an astounding $40 each. This surprising decision positions each figure at just $20 less than the game itself, and the game comes packed with several free DLC. In comparison, the released Ken and Ryu Smash Bros. Amiibo retailed at $16. Although neither figure is currently in circulation, you can purchase Ken and Ryu Amiibo for around $25 each from resellers.
This Amiibo showcases the young Rito, Tulin, wielding the mighty Great Eagle Bow. In addition to being a delightful decoration for your workspace or gaming area, this Amiibo is compatible with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, offering exciting in-game rewards, including unique fabric for the paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom.
The guardian of Chinatown stands boldly with this vibrant Amiibo, featuring an eye-catching translucent blue backdrop. This Amiibo can be used on Switch 2 to preserve your character’s attire, control configuration, and button mappings, unlocking exciting bonuses for the forthcoming Switch 2 edition of Street Fighter 6.
In this Amiibo, Luke delivers a fierce uppercut, enhanced by the striking orange visual that surrounds his fist. Similar to the Jamie Amiibo, this collectible provides numerous functionalities with Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2.
The dynamic ninja Kimberly comes to life through this Amiibo, captured mid-leap as she dashes across the terrain, leaving a trail of pink dust behind her. By adding this Amiibo to your assortment, you’ll unlock special in-game benefits for Street Fighter 6 or save your preferences directly to the Amiibo for effortless transfers.
As noted earlier, the additional new Amiibo is for Mineru’s Construct. A specific release date hasn’t been confirmed, other than “coming soon,” and the pricing remains unspecified. It appears significantly larger, though, suggesting it might sell for a premium compared to the other four Champions.
Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild, and Street Fighter 6 will be available starting April 24 as well.
