Suspecting we had seen every aspect of the Switch 2 that Nintendo Today! app could offer, Nintendo surprises us again. This time, highlighting the console’s innovative battery charging settings aiming for extended battery-health.
According to the app, Switch 2 introduces a ‘Stop Charging Around 90%’ setting. Simply put, this slows down the charging speed as it nears 90% and halts upon reaching this level.
“Stopping the charge at approximately 90% lessens damage to the battery,” states the explanation by Nintendo, supplemented by a video demonstrating the special charging feature
This video can be found on the Nintendo Today! app, or it can be viewed below in the following BlueSky post by Stealth40k:
Indeed, a comparable charging feature has been utilized in smartphones for some years, making Nintendo a tad tardy with this update. Nonetheless, it’s reassuring to know that our new console batteries would last slightly longer, especially considering the reduced battery life of the Switch 2 on a full charge.
In addition to the exhibition of the new charging feature, with an aim to preserve battery life, it is suggested to watch the attached video with audio to hear the novel sound effects added to the menus. Though not groundbreaking, it was startling to hear the Settings icon produce a new crunch sound.
