Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has received a significant update, introducing a New Game+ mode along with a photo mode.

New Game+ allows players to start a new playthrough on any difficulty level previously completed, with all weapons and Ninpo spells unlocked (although they revert to level one).

The photo mode, on the other hand, can be found in the options menu and enables players to pause the action and reposition the camera to capture screenshots. It’s quite straightforward, but a delightful addition.

Additionally, the update brings a number of bug fixes, allowing players to hide their projectile weapon for a more streamlined appearance, and Team Ninja has made several balance modifications.

In particular, these mainly affect missions where players control Ryu’s various female allies: the adversaries in chapters 8 and 11 have had their HP reduced, while the enemy count in chapters 13 and 14 (the latter played as Ryu) has been increased. Ayane has also received a boost to her attacks.

The complete patch notes can be located on the Team Ninja website.

The update is now available across all platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Microsoft Store, Steam).

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was unexpectedly released during the latest Xbox Developer Direct – it is an enhanced version of the Xbox 360 game Ninja Gaiden 2, incorporating elements from its Sigma release on PS3.

Digital Foundry characterized the release as “the finest version yet.”
