Fairies are arriving in The Sims 4 tomorrow with the latest expansion pack Enchanted by Nature, and as per usual, EA has provided a pre-release update – an update that has not gone precisely as intended.

Although the game now features numerous new elements, including some breathtaking glass roofs and decorative plants, it also comes with a multitude of annoying bugs – the most frustrating of which pertains to pregnancy. As players have observed in discussions online, Sims can no longer take pregnancy tests and are incorrectly identified by the game as “pregnant.” One user’s screenshot demonstrates this issue, showcasing her Sim mistakenly labeled as such.

I assure you she is not from r/Sims4

The situation doesn’t end there, however. It’s more than just a label – pregnant Sims cannot engage in specific actions and interactions. For example, as the poster highlights, their Sim is unable to “Make a Wish” during pregnancy… even though the Sim isn’t actually pregnant. Furthermore, Sims can’t “Try for Baby” any longer as the game incorrectly assumes they are already expecting, and vampire Sims are unable to consume the plasma of any other Sims, as they are all deemed “pregnant.”

This is a glitch I’ve had to contend with myself recently, being someone who principally plays with occult-themed Sims. I’ve had to get inventive and cheat to fill my vampire Sims’ thirst levels so they don’t perish, and I’m not the only one. In essence, the pre-release patch intended to prepare the game for a new occult (fairies, in this case of Enchanted by Nature) appears to have disrupted another – the vampire occult.

Fortunately, EA is aware of the pregnancy issue and is addressing it. There are bug report threads on the official EA Forums highlighting the problem, and an announcement was made in the game’s official Discord server stating that developers are “actively looking into issues related to Sim pregnancy, including missing pregnancy tests, baby bumps, and interactions.” Let’s hope the swarm of “pregnant” Sims diminishes soon, and our vampires can once again feast.
