It is progressing on development kits and is “receptive” to a Switch 2 release
The everyday team-oriented hero game Marvel Rivals has enjoyed an exceptionally successful debut, and as it continues to expand, developer NetEase Games is exploring new methods to enhance the experience. While it has seemingly ruled out a launch on the original Switch, there appears to be a genuine opportunity for the game to arrive on the Switch 2.
In an interview with IGN at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu shared how the team was “already in communication with Nintendo” and was actively “working on several development kits.” The decision will ultimately depend on how the game performs on the system:
“We’re already in communication with Nintendo and working on several development kits. Whenever we determine that we can deliver excellent performance for our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that.”
This aim to provide a “fantastic experience” was the same reason the developer opted not to release the game on the original Switch. Thus, as long as it can deliver “excellent performance” on Switch 2, it is “receptive” to a launch on this platform.
