As Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is anticipated to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch later this year, it’s an opportune moment to explore one of Nintendo’s outstanding titles from the past: Metroid Prime Remastered. This exquisite reimagining of the GameCube classic, Metroid Prime Remastered is available for just $30 (originally $40) at Walmart. This offer has been presented a few times recently, and it usually doesn’t remain in stock for long.
Although it was released over two years ago, Metroid Prime Remastered rarely sold for under $40 until Walmart introduced this discount. It is currently out of stock on Amazon and priced at the standard $40 at Best Buy and Target.

Although it carries “Remastered” in its title, it has…
its title, the Nintendo Switch edition of Metroid Prime resembles more of a dedicated remake. The extraterrestrial ruins and landscapes of Tallon IV have been meticulously reconstructed with stunning new models and high-resolution textures, which not only align with the original game’s artistic direction but also enhance its immersive ambiance. The mechanics and level layouts remain faithful to the original, with a few appreciated modifications such as fresh control choices, including a revamped scheme that aligns with the conventional first-person shooter formats most players know—although the classic control layout and gyro-based aiming are still an option.
These modifications make Metroid Prime Remastered the ultimate method of experiencing the game, showcasing how well the foundational gameplay has withstood the test of time. As Steven Petite noted in our review of Metroid Prime Remastered, “It’s an experience that has matured like fine wine, proving to be just as captivating now as it was two decades ago.”
This Metroid Prime Remastered edition presents an excellent starting point for newcomers, but those who already possess the original game can anticipate more Metroid Prime productions this year. Clearly, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the highlight, but an art and commentary book titled Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is also upcoming, launching on June 24. This hardcover publication will include illustrations and concept art from the original Metroid Prime trilogy and the recent Metroid Prime Remastered, along with insights from Kensuke Tanabe and the Retro Studios development team. Preorders are available on Amazon for $46.49.
Additionally, Amazon is accepting preorders for an official Metroid Prime 2026 wall calendar, which also features a 2025 planner for use prior to the new year.
While 2025 is gearing up to be an exceptional year for Metroid Prime, the entire series has been receiving deserved attention over recent years. The latest entry in the primary side-scrolling series, Metroid Dread debuted on Switch in 2021, marking the first completely new side-scrolling chapter since 2002’s Metroid Fusion for GBA. You can pair it with the Metroid Dread Amiibo 2-Pack, which features figures of Samus Aran and the E.M.M.I. robot, priced at $25 (down from $30). If you happen to still own a Nintendo 3DS, we highly suggest the excellent remake of Metroid II, which you can acquire a fresh copy of Metroid: Samus Returns for $46 through Amazon.
For additional Metroid collectibles, visit these Amazon listings for official World of Nintendo action figures: This Metroid Prime 3 Samus figure is available for under $25, and it would pair perfectly with a Metroid (the creature) figure for $22. Lastly, if you’re keen on showcasing your passion for Metroid, Amazon offers affordable Metroid-themed apparel inspired by beloved games such as Metroid Prime and Super Metroid.
