PowerA’s latest Metroid-themed wireless controller is compatible with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 through Bluetooth. The controller is officially endorsed and maintains a classic form similar to Nintendo’s Pro Controllers.

It includes anti-friction joystick rings, motion detection, dual vibration motors, and two rear buttons that can be remapped instantly. The striking design showcases Samus Aran adorned in her Varia Suit with a cosmic backdrop on the right. The Metroid Prime logo is displayed on the left grip.

The controller can last for up to 30 hours between charges and comes with a 10-foot USB-C cable.

PowerA’s Metroid Prime-themed gaming earbuds are visually appealing, but it’s important to mention that the controller lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, the Switch 2 console does accommodate wired earbuds.

The $25 earbuds showcase Metroid designs on both sides and come with three interchangeable silicone tips. They are equipped with an inline microphone for voice communication, 8mm dynamic audio drivers, and an adjustable slider to keep the wires from tangling.

Frankly, the most impressive feature could be the drawstring storage pouch, which includes three pieces of key art showing Samus from her appearances in the original trilogy.

Metroid Prime Trilogy Crossbody Bag for Switch

$25

The Metroid Prime Trilogy Crossbody Bag showcases the same design that appears on the drawstring pouch included with the earbuds. PowerA claims the bag is intended for Nintendo Switch OLED, Switch, and Switch Lite. However, it will also function with the Nintendo Switch 2 if the Joy-Con 2 Controllers are detached.

Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective (Hardcover)

$46.49 (was $50) | Available Now

In reference to the Metroid Prime Trilogy, the official visual retrospective launched on October 28. Created by the team responsible for the exquisite Legend of Zelda strategy guides, Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is a 208-page clothbound hardcover that every enthusiast will want to explore.

This publication comprises concept art, sketches, and illustrations alongside insights from Retro Studios developers, as well as additional behind-the-scenes content like producer’s notes from Nintendo’s archives. The volume encompasses Metroid Prime, Prime 2: Echoes, Prime 3: Corruption, and Metroid Prime Remastered.

Series producer Kensuke Tanabe penned the foreword for this work, and each game’s segment is introduced by a developer from Retro Studios.

Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is a stunning book. It features an embossed metallic-foil image of Samus on the clothbound cover, sheet-fed art paper, and a sewn binding.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first disclosed during E3 2017, shortly after the Nintendo Switch debuted. Preorders commenced simultaneously. Numerous fans maintained an Amazon preorder for nearly eight years before the retailer ultimately canceled all outstanding orders earlier this year. Prime 4 was initially being developed by Bandai Namco, but the project was halted and rebooted in 2019 by Retro Studios. The Nintendo subsidiary was behind the previous three Prime titles, and Beyond is spearheaded by the original producer Kensuke Tanabe. The gameplay footage released thus far appears very encouraging.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond occurs after the storyline of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, though the exact time gap is uncertain. What is known is that it will have Samus exploring a completely new planet, Viewros, inhabited by an unfamiliar musical alien species known as The Lamorn, who have summoned Samus to rescue the planet from a mysterious threat. Samus wields entirely new psychic abilities that will enable her to interface with the peculiar ruins and relics on Viewros and defend herself against the perilous creatures that inhabit the world. As confirmed in an earlier gameplay preview, Samus’ cryptic adversary, Sylux, will also make an appearance and clearly plays a crucial role in the narrative.

If you’re seeking to experience the earlier Metroid Prime titles prior to the arrival of Beyond, sadly, the long-anticipated Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch never came to fruition. However, you can still enjoy the stunning 2023 remaster of the original GameCube classic. Metroid Prime Remastered is an outstanding revamp of the 2002 masterpiece. You can acquire the physical copy for Nintendo Switch for $40 at Amazon. Samus’ 2021 side-scrolling journey Metroid Dread is also highly enjoyable.
