The MCU just suffered a substantial and savage loss due to the inaugural season of Marvel Zombies, which led to the demise of several characters. Without delving too deeply into spoiler territory, some of your beloved figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended up either as shambling super-powered creatures or as a meal for those who did. Yet, all hope isn’t entirely gone, as there remains a decent number of characters who were absent during the initial wave of zombies after Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), one of whom is the former Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).
As it happens, while Ms. Marvel and her companions were on the ridiculously perilous task of notifying the rest of the universe about Earth’s dilemma, Marvel Zombies writer, director, and executive producer Bryan Andrews disclosed that Bucky had also encountered some of the foolishness affecting him amidst the turmoil.
In a discussion with Brandon Davis for Phase Hero, Andrews admitted to the happenings concerning other characters that were left out this time. “There are still a few still out there, though. At this point, Andrews became specific without revealing too much of the gruesome game that may unfold in the future of Marvel Zombies. As it turns out, while the likes of Kamala and Blade Knight (Todd Williams) were engaged in a life-or-death struggle, Bucky was serving as a very active assassin elsewhere. “So there’s this entire aspect to Bucky that I won’t delve into that we know exactly what’s going on with, like, completely. Because we had him for this and we just couldn’t incorporate it into the narrative, so rather than compromise him because the material felt really intriguing,” Andrews hinted. “It’s like we don’t want to shortchange, so perhaps it’s wiser if we just set it aside.”
Whether we will indeed witness what Andrews has set aside remains uncertain. Even after the debut of Marvel Zombies, no confirmation has emerged yet regarding the potential for a second season. Nonetheless, executive producer Brad Winderbaum has proposed one avenue to facilitate its occurrence. “Yes, indeed. Subscribe to Disney+ and view the show; perhaps we’ll get the chance to narrate more stories,” Winderbaum conveyed to Screen Rant. “Bryan and I converse frequently about this universe, and the lore is incredibly rich. It’s like experiencing a D&D saga so
