Kingdom Near: Deliverance 2 Shatters Records with 1 Million Copies Sold on Launch Day, Achieves Top Metacritic Score of 2025
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of the most significant early successes of 2025, selling over 1 million copies within its first day and becoming the highest-rated game of the year so far.
Developer Warhorse Studios announced this impressive sales achievement on social media. “More than a million of you have entered our realm,” it stated. “We are incredibly thankful for your backing – thank you for making KCD2 a success!” The historical RPG set in 15th Century Bohemia is clearly attracting a large audience, and it is also receiving significant acclaim.
On Metacritic, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 currently holds the title of the highest-rated game of the year, achieving an overall score of 88 based on 52 reviews from critics. The only titles that come close to this are the well-received co-op snowboarding sequel Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders and the similarly acclaimed TTRPG-inspired cyberpunk adventure Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, which occupy the second and third ranks on the list respectively.
Our own Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review was equally appreciative of the game, describing it as an “enthralling” journey through a world committed to historical accuracy at every corner. “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a monumental achievement, an even richer and more immersive sequel that offers a comprehensive depiction of medieval existence,” Alan Wen stated.
However, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 faces a variety of challengers if it hopes to retain its lead this month. Keep an eye on the upcoming game releases and you will notice that February is packed with titles that could easily take over the Metacritic charts, including the first-person RPG Avowed, the whimsically titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
