Kayleen Walters Takes the Helm at Mojang as Microsoft Gaming VP
Kayleen Walters, VP of Microsoft Gaming, has been designated as the head of Mojang Studios.
Walters – who will oversee the website in addition to her responsibilities as VP and head of franchise development at Microsoft Gaming – will begin her role immediately as the current Mojang leader, Åsa Bredin, steps down to “concentrate on personal objectives beyond work.”
According to a report by Variety, Federico San Martin will take over Walters’ daily management of franchise development.
Walters will lead Mojang Studios alongside its global leadership team, where Amy Stillion will also be “assuming an expanded role” as chief of staff, assisting both game and content studio operations, including Mojang Studios.
“Transitions are not always easy, but I have complete confidence in this team and its ability to deliver extraordinary experiences for our players and community,” expressed Helen Chiang, Microsoft’s game content and studios chief operating officer, in an internal memo seen by Variety.
“With strong leadership in position and a clear vision for the future, we are well-prepared to face the challenges before us in the market.”
