Amazon presents a fantastic offer on The Dark Crystal Collector’s Edition. Released last year at $100, this limited edition 4K box set of Jim Henson’s cherished dark fantasy movie is now priced at just $50. Enthusiasts of The Muppets creator’s 1982 classic can also snag this deal at Walmart. The comparable Collector’s Edition of Henson’s 1986 film Labyrinth isn’t available for quite as low, but you can grab it for approximately $77 at Walmart or Amazon. However, prior to making any purchases, it’s important to note that last year’s sold-out Steelbook Editions of both films are scheduled for rerelease on October 7.
Initially exclusive to Walmart, the new prints of The Dark Crystal 4K Steelbook and Labyrinth 4K Steelbook can be preordered at Amazon for $29 and $33, respectively. Walmart is also accepting preorders for The Dark Crystal’s Steelbook, although Labyrinth is presently out of stock.

Labyrinth was originally launched on 4K Blu-ray in 2016 as part of its 30th anniversary, yet that version costs $25, making it not much more affordable than the Limited Edition Steelbook. The Dark Crystal’s initial 4K Blu-ray edition was released for its 35th anniversary in 2018, but it is currently only four dollars cheaper than the Steelbook Edition.
The Dark Crystal Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray)
$29 (was $36) | Releases October 7
The Dark Crystal debuted in 1982 and was helmed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. Henson developed the narrative idea, while Muppets author David Odell crafted the screenplay.
The Dark Crystal showcased remarkable puppetry, and the storyline centers on Jen and Kira, two Gelflings on a mission to restore equilibrium to the realm of Thra by revitalizing a formidable crystal to overthrow the malevolent Skeksis who govern the territory. This was essentially Final Fantasy before Final Fantasy even existed.
This set contains two discs. The 4K Blu-ray disc holds the movie, audio commentary, and a fresh Q&A from a fan gathering featuring The Jim Henson Company CEO Lisa Henson (daughter of Jim).
A second, conventional Blu-ray disc includes the film and an array of additional special features. Here is everything you will discover on the two discs.
The Dark Crystal Special Features

Labyrinth Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray)
$33 (previously $37) | Launches October 7
Henson’s last feature movie as a director debuted in 1986 with Labyrinth, a film that blended live-action with puppetry. It showcased talents such as Jennifer Connelly portraying 16-year-old Sarah and David Bowie as Jareth, the Goblin King. Unfortunately, it was a commercial failure upon release, but in the years that followed, it garnered rave reviews and a passionate following. The storyline follows Sarah as she sets out on a mission to rescue her infant brother Toby from the heart of a massive labyrinth after she wished him away to Jareth.
Much like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth is a dark fantasy that diverges significantly from an ordinary Muppets film, and this 4K edition also comes in a steelbook case, showcasing an artwork of Toby surrounded by goblins. Additionally, there is a remarkable array of supplemental content available to view.
The special features are divided among the two-disc collection, with the majority appearing on the standard Blu-ray disc. The 4K disc contains the film, audio commentary, a fan event Q&A, and a video demonstrating how to Contact Juggle like David Bowie.
Labyrinth Special Features
- 4K version of the movie
- Standard Blu-ray version of the movie
- Fan event Q&A with Brian Henson and Toby Froud
- Contact juggling guide
- Audio commentary featuring conceptual designer Brian Froud
- Reordering time: Reflecting on Labyrinth
- The Henson Legacy
- Remembering the Goblin King
- Anniversary Q&A
- Inside the Labyrinth documentary
- Journey through the Labyrinth: Kingdom of Characters
- Journey through the Labyrinth: The quest for the Goblin City
- The Storytellers: Picture-in-picture track
- Deleted and alternate scenes, alongside audio commentary with Brian Henson
- Theatrical trailers
Labyrinth Collector’s Edition (4K Blu-ray)
$77.44 (previously $100)
Labyrinth’s Collector’s Edition closely resembles the one for The Dark Crystal, except it appropriately substitutes the glass shard for a Glass Crystal Ball and a wooden display stand. Below is the complete list of what is included:
- Labyrinth Display Box
- Glass Crystal Ball with wooden stand
- 28-page booklet
- 5 Art Cards
- Logo sticker
- 2 discs (4K + 1080p)
Once again, while you will miss the steelbook case, the content on the discs remains the same.
